Thomas Keith Bradford
Former consultant in chest diseases Hastings (b 1914; q King's College 1938), d 30 January 2000. A committed Christian, Keith offered his services to the Church Mission Society and in 1938 sailed to Sudan to work in Omdurman. He and his wife, a nurse, travelled up the Nile by steamer, whichtook two weeks, to work at a small mission hospital and leper colony at Lui. Conditions were primitive and patients arrived suffering from malaria, crocodile or snake bites, or burns from open cooking fires. In 1941 Keith was recalled to Omdurman Hospital where he worked until 1947. On his return to Britain he was asked to reopen the Eversfield Chest Hospital in St Leonards, East Sussex, where he cared for patients with tuberculosis. He also worked as consultant in chest diseases and general medicine in Hastings untilhe retired in 1979. He was a loyal member and churchwarden of St Leonard's Parish Church and helped to plan St Michael's Hospice. Latterly he enjoyed playing bowls and walking bythe sea. He leaves a wife, Joan; four children; and six grandchildren.

Rory Shaun Casement
Consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology Mater Hospital, Belfast (q Belfast 1945; FRCOG), d 18 January 2000. He was a brilliant classicist at school and won scholarships to Queen's University, but chose a career in medicine. He held training posts in Manchester, Wales, and—after national service in Egypt—in Sheffield. He was at the Mater for 30 years and was an enthusiastic member of staff. Rory was recognised as a skilled operator and an understanding teacher, who held moderate and tolerant views. He leaves a wife, Lucy, and five children (one daughter is a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology).
